Today I saw my need for a good breath of fresh air.
I saw this on a Korean music video channel. Although the video is beautifully shot I wouldn't have cared for it in the same capacity were there not a story with it. Below is the Arctic man's words along with the link.
"When I was a child we would hunt with a dog sled on the sea ice. For generations we have done this but the ice has failed again this winter. It is rotten and we cannot do anything. It is very difficult for our people today. I cannot tell you what the future brings but if this weather continues...people living around the world in low lands will have big problems."

Had some down time. I decided to try the waves with my straightener. I watched the salon guy do it a couple weeks ago. So yeah, these are the creepy pictures ppl take of themselves...eew...but I couldn't show you my hair in real life!

10 days go by fast...
I got a phone call from my Aunt Donna and Uncle Ken today! It was a nice break from my no hours of class day. It's my second week since I've started teaching that I have 2 days in a row of no classes. Tomorrow...what shall I do for an 8 hour shift
But it was totally sweet to get the call. My aunt sounds so hyper and she's super nice. I love both my aunt and uncle. They live closer to me than I thought...considering I'm in the next city over. Since I go to Seoul a lot though, they are fairly nearby.
There's a movie coming out this week called "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People." Def wanna see that...the title is frikkin' hilarious bc of Carnegie's book.
Let's see...I've found a few pairs of really awesome earrings at the subway for less than $1 each pair. There is less than $6 pizza about 15 min away from my apt walking distance. And public transportation is still cheaper than paying for a car, insurance, and gas in America...so this life is pretty decent.
I caught the newest episode of The Hills and Gossip Girl. I went to bed for a nap yesterday at 18:00 but ended up sleeping for the entire night. I finally got a longer than 6 hour sleep night. Over 12 hours? Is that too much? Heck no!
Anyhoot, nothing else really fancy...we had to change our field to play ultimate frisbee b/c in the middle of our current one they are building a road...a bike road but very much in the way.
Oh, last weekend was cuh-razy! Lots of celebrating...an all nighter for a birthday and then the Ulti Welcome Party. It was my first time going to the pharmacy on Sat night. I had an unusually long stomach pain along with some heart issues. The lady at the pharm said it was due to stress....
Tomorrow evening I get to meet Lucy! Yay!

This wasn't it...
My previous post was to be continued with a second random thought but this isn't THE one.
After dinner some ulti folks went to a cool bar...my family is going to cringe at the sound of me being at a bar. But it's the cleanest one I've ever seen and anywho, I was in a contest with two others to name all 50 states on paper. I technically only got 48 because two of them I had been given freely without a request...I wasn't trying to cheat. People are just helpful, I guess. So I kinda won but not really and the other two were Canadian. Who knew Canada had only 10 provinces? They named them off and of course I still don't know them all...I haven't even heard of 2 of them, EVER. I feel like I'm going to know so much about Canada from living in Korea. Odd sounding, eh? hahahaha....oh, "eh" but it sounds more like "ey"...anywayz...The 50 states thing caught on and mo' folks had napkins with their lists. Fairly decent entertainment. I was lamely mentally exhausted afterwards...baha.
I think I met like 2 more Canadians today. I don't remember where though. But they seemed cool. I don't even remember their faces or anything but just that I met a couple more of them. I told my friend, Mallory, who's from there that I'm fo' sho' going there whenever I am living in America again cuz I'll get to visit everyone! And I've only been to Niagra Falls and I don't really count that as a good visit.

A couple quick thoughts I've pondered upon...
I like playing pick-up barefoot cuz it reminds me to be chill. After a bad cramp in my calf I stopped playing our team's second league game of the day. But I still wanted to play...you know, like normal people...normal ultimate obsessive people.
But the thing that makes me smile about playing barefoot and wearing my Rainbows afterwards is that I never wash my feet. So as I take the public transportation in Korea this is what you see...smelly Korean girl in blue shorts and a black shirt, ponytail with white headwrap/band, yellow backpack, Rainbows with nasty, Hobbit-like feet and occasionally with a phone in hand while listening to an iPod. Today I had leftover hot pink nail polish on my toes as well. I forget my feet are even dirty until I look down...then laugh inside. The subway is super bright with fluorescent lighting (maybe halogen but I'm just talking bright) and seems really clean. Korean people like to stare. It's all fun and games to me when they do.

Day 45
I was clearing up some things on a countdown and noticed that it was 45 days ago that I flew to Korea...give or take based on time changes.

I forgot to mention that for the most part a lot of people in Korea don't mind that I speak English. But it confuses them.

Mmmm....the verdict is Mamma Mia is not what all the hype's about.
There are fireworks in Seoul at night...so we might try to make it. But I heard that people start setting up their piece of grass at 2pm. They don't start till 7:30pm.
On the surface I seem fairly adaptable to Korea. At the same time it's only month 2 of my foreign living. I bet I am okay because I can blend in as a native and remain undercover if need be. I picked up a copy of a book to learn Korean. I think I got too engrossed in the details of the language but it was quite fun. I took advantage of an online translator website and it helped me practice typing in Korean. The consonants are on the left hand and the vowels are on the right.
Example of one minor change from living in Korea happened Friday night. I was outside of a restaurant and was reading "Titan." It was mentally read as "tee-tahn." And my brain triggered something that said, "try again." So 1.8453 seconds later my brain was like, "No, duh, it's Titan. You know English words!" Ha...layman explanation: Korean is written with consonant and vowel combinations clumped by syllable division. So as I read Titan I split it CV/CVC. And so my mental voice was off. I took the experience as a good progression towards learning Korean.
I miss my summer days of more solitude and reading.

My friend, Suran from Busan is visiting me on Saturday and I can't wait! I haven't seen her since April. She is staying with me overnight before she leaves for Florida again to learn more collegiate level English. And I get to see Lucy again, too! Both of whom were in my class at UF's language institute.
